Feb 1, 2019–Today’s featured event is Hanif Abdurraqib’s Sunday Sendoff at 2pm on February 24th at Kings.
Hanif’s outstanding new book, Go Ahead In The Rain: Notes To A Tribe Called Quest, published by The University of Texas Press, is officially released today. It is not only a biography of A Tribe Called Quest, but an intense personal reflection on what it means to love an artist and be influenced by their work.
Hanif has also written an outstanding book of essays, They Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us, published by Two Dollar Radio, and a collection of poems, The Crown Ain’t Worth Much, published by Button Poetry.
Hanif is a Minnesota Timberwolves fan, and we forgive him for that.
A conversation between Hanif and Festival Co-Director Jason Jefferies can be accessed here: https://bookin.podbean.com/e/012-bookin-w-hanif-abdurraqib/
This event is sold out, but waitlist spots are available.
Important note: Hanif is a once in a generation writer. We are very lucky to have him.
Hanif’s talk will be preceded by a brief onstage discussion of A Tribe Called Quest’s People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm.
